Scholarships

The Earthwalk School of Herbal Traditions acknowledges an under-representation of Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color in the field of herbalism.  We also acknowledge that many of the plants we work with on a regular basis were passed down from African, Native American, and Asian traditions.  For this reason we offer priority to BIPOC when allocating scholarships.  After this need is met, the money is allocated to anyone in need of financial assistance. If you are interested in receiving scholarship money toward the Herbal Apprenticeship, Community Herbalist Training, or the Advanced Clinical Mentorship, then please send us an email with your name, some information about yourself, why you would benefit from a scholarship, and your calling to pursue herbal education.  Our scholarship fund is continuously ebbing and flowing and is dependent upon full-paying students and donations.  We may or may not be able to offer full scholarships, but we always hope to offer something, so please inquire!

Payment Plans and Financial Policies

Herbal Apprenticeship– A $350 deposit is required to hold your place in the apprenticeship.  This deposit is non-refundable unless we have had ample time to fill your place. Once your spot is filled, we will refund your deposit. The total tuition for the course is $1,350.  The payment plan allows you to make 5 installments of $200. The first installment is due on or before the first day of class in May, and a payment is due on or before the first day of class each month thru September. We ask that everyone be paid in full by September.  If you need to set up a different arrangement, please contact us. Paying ahead of schedule is always welcomed. If you decide to drop out in the middle of the course, you are still responsible for tuition. Payments may be made by check, cash, Paypal or Venmo. Students are responsible for processing fees from online payments.

Community Herbalist Training- A $250 deposit is required to hold your place in the Community Herbalist Training.  This deposit is non-refundable. The total tuition for the course is $1,150. If a student drops out after the course has started, they are still responsible for the full tuition. The payment plan allows you to make 5 payments of $180.  Each payment is due on or before the first day of class each month, January thru May.  All students must be settled up by May.  If you need a slightly different arrangement, please speak to Melanie about other options.  We are usually flexible as long as there is good communication.  The whole tuition may be paid upfront either by check or or Venmo. Our Venmo handle is @Melanie-earthwalk-school.

Advanced Clinical Mentorship-  50% of the total tuition is due upon registration for the Advanced Clinical Mentorship.  The total cost for this course is $2,200. $1100 is due upfront, and the other $1100 is due 3 weeks before the first day of class in September.  This is a year-long immersion with a smaller group of students, which is why we have a different payment policy for this 3rd level training.  If you need a different arrangement, please contact Melanie to see if we can accommodate your needs.  If you cancel your enrollment less than 30 days before the start of the program, you will get receive a refund of $850, but we will keep the $250 registration fee. If you cannot continue your studies once the course has begun, we cannot refund your tuition.

Q and A: Will I get my deposit back? If for any reason you need to cancel your registration within 30 days before the course begins, and we are able to fill your spot, then we will refund you $300.  The $50 will be kept as an admin/registration fee.  If we are unable to fill your spot and all the materials are been purchased for the course, then we are unable to refund your deposit.  Most years we have a waiting list to get in and we are able to refund your deposit. Thank you for understanding.  We are a small school and the prices for materials to run such a course continue to increase every year.
